Professor David Maguire
Professor David Maguire, Vice Chancellor and President, University of East Anglia
David Maguire is the Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of East Anglia.
Prior to this, he was interim Vice-Chancellor at the University of Sussex and interim Principal at the University of Dundee. He was Vice-Chancellor at the University of Greenwich between 2011 and 2019. He has also worked as an academic at the universities of Lancaster, Leicester, Plymouth and Redlands (California). Educated at the University of Bristol and the University of Exeter, David has worked extensively in the field of computer mapping and geographic information systems. He is the author of many influential papers and books including co-author of the leading student text Geographic Information Science and Systems.
Before returning to academia as a university leader he spent 20 years working in the IT industry as Chief Scientist and Director of Products for a global computer software and services company, Esri, based in California.
